Virginia Legal Aid Society (VLAS) is a nonprofit law firm established in 1977 to provide free civil legal services to eligible low-income residents in Central, Southside and Western Tidewater Virginia.

VLAS serves these communities by providing free information, advice, and representation in such areas as housing, healthcare, income and benefits, family issues, consumer, and education.

VLAS serves the City of Lynchburg and the counties of: Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell, and Halifax.

To determine whether they can help you, LawLine paralegals must screen you for eligibility.

During the brief screening, we will gather demographic information including household size; income and asset information; conduct a required check for conflicts of interest; and get a brief description of your legal problem.
