Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ) was established  in 2020 as a program by the Essex County Legal Services Foundation to provide direct legal representation to residents of Essex County, New Jersey.

They aim to improve the lives of economically disadvantaged adults, children and families in New Jersey by empowering them with pro bono tools, advice and representation with the aim of ensuring fair and equal treatment within the legal system.

They offer free legal services to people with certain civil (not criminal) legal problems.
