Lone Star Legal Aid is a nonprofit law firm. Provides free civil legal help to low-income families and individuals in 72 Texas counties and 4 Arkansas counties.

They represent people who have legal issues but cannot afford an attorney.

Non-emergency walk-in intake hours:

8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Emergency intakes will be accepted during all office hours.

Office Hours:

8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Lone Star Legal Aid provides free legal advice and representation to eligible clients in non-criminal cases across SE Texas

LSLA focuses on assisting clients in maintaining and protecting economic stability; preserving housing and preventing foreclosures; protecting and improving the lives of children; ensuring safety for abuse victims; and assisting populations with special vulnerabilities such as the elderly, disabled, children, veterans, and people with limited English capabilities.

All of the clients are low income.

Many are women and children.

Some are victims of domestic violence who need help escaping violence and remaining violence-free.

Others are disabled residents in need of housing assistance, some need help with appealing food stamp applications or applying for Medicaid, Medicare, or SSI.

Their screening process is designed to prioritize clients whose problems are life-altering or threatening.
