Description

The mission of Eastern Tennessee Legal Aid is to ensure equal justice for the elderly, abused and low-income, by providing a wide range of civil legal assistance and advocacy.

It provides civil law services ranging from information and advice to complex litigation and appeals for low-income individuals.

They presents a wide variety of law-related topics to low-income groups, non-profit organizations and other members of the community through their Speakers Bureau.

As part of their educational and information activities, LAET also maintains information brochures at court houses in East Tennessee.

LAET has special programs for the elderly and victims of domestic violence that, due to funding authorizations from sources, can be provided to people whose income and/or assets exceed the restrictions on most of their LAET services also funds and staff Pro Bono Projects that recruit, support and use volunteer lawyers and other professionals to enable them to expand services.
