Description

The mission of East Tennessee Legal Assistance is to ensure equal justice for the elderly, abused and low-income people by providing a wide range of civil legal assistance and advocacy.


LAET provides civil legal services ranging from information and counseling to complex litigation and appellate defense for low-income individuals.


Through their Speakers Bureau, the LAET presents a variety of law-related topics for low-income groups, nonprofit organizations and others in the community.


As part of their community education and outreach efforts, LAET also maintains information leaflets in courthouses across East Tennessee.


LAET has special programs for seniors and victims of domestic violence that can be made available on the basis of funding permits to individuals whose income and/or assets exceed the limits on the majority of their services LAET also funds and employees Pro Bono projects that recruit, support and use volunteer lawyers and other professionals to enable us to expand services.
